This is sacred

This is the second step of your conscious path.

It begins in shame, leading to your awareness of greed within and around you. Then it breaks open into the charity you do and receive, and arrives at your personal journey into the grace of piety.

I’ll be using Hindu/yogic, Christian and new age modalities to say that all share the same truths and offerings for healing oneself. They have been there for us for thousands of years. They exist in indigenous teachings, science, western and eastern mental health modalities, fairy tales, mythologies, archetypal systems, paganism, you name it. I have refined it and will learn it more deeply as I share and teach it with others.

Once you have begun the grounding work of realizing who you are and how you belong and what you believe in, the journey moves up to the bottom of your core.

Here is where sexual and creative energy live. It is also where feeling emerges and erupts.

When a person is not flowing in this next part of the path then shame steps in.

Shame is described as “an unpleasant self-conscious emotion often associated with negative self-evaluation; motivation to quit; and feelings of pain, exposure, distrust, powerlessness, and worthlessness”.

Shame is disGRACE. Each one of these steps are steps of finding one’s personal grace, and self mastery.

How do you know if you are blocked or stuck here?

When you are feeling shame it often expresses a feeling of “it’s not safe to be me”, of feeling broken.

It’s that place where whatever you have struggled to have faith in must hate me feeling. When you are here it feels like you can get your needs met but can never get more. It’s like you just can’t get enough. If you have sexual trauma or are lgbtq+ you are likely going to have to work even harder to remove the shame block.

That’s ok though, because it’s possible and you will be wiser, stronger, more compassionate and graceful after you release its resistance by doing this personal work.

The sin associated with the sacral chakra is greed. It’s an intense selfish desire for a thing. It is an insatiable craving for more stuff and more external validation as a desperate ego response to the aforementioned shame. The fear looks for external answers and stimulants instead of using the energy of this chakra to go within and create and then birth new things in co-creation.

This sacral chakra is in the sacrum, the floor of our core, it is the sacred, and leads to coming into developing a disciplined practice for yourself to travel freely through this second step.

Mindfulness is key to noticing, accepting and healing these blocks. Think of one important aspect of mindfulness being the ability to witness ourselves.

Once you can see your greed you can adapt and start to move out of resistance into the virtue of charity.

Charity is a great way to fuel your tank and feel better fast for a bit. I like to suggest random acts of kindness, little things. You could smile at a stranger without expectation of that smile being returned. You could anonymously pay for the order of the person behind you at a drive through. The possibilities are infinite. The key is to do so without expectations of something in return and to be mindful enough to notice how it changes you for the better. Charity can help with feeling like you belong in this world and have purpose.

Once you get through the isolating block of shame and have started to practice thinking more of others in a loving way and seeing others needs and suffering as normal as your own, then you’ve cleared the path to the grace of piety.

Piety in terms of this work can be religious, but is not necessary. Here what I mean is once you have unblocked the root trauma and decide on what you have faith in and start to want to be living consciously by your own design, then you need to create a disciplined daily practice. It’s a  way to honour what you have faith in beyond yourself so you don’t get too caught up in your own fear, sadness, shame  and grief. It’s a commitment to be awake and responsible for yourself and how you affect others you share space with.

The second chakra holds creative and sexual energy. It’s challenging to be joyfully and freely creative or sexual when you feel ashamed. Releasing this block leads to so many wonderful pleasures and possibilities.
